Feminine Fuerza Empowerment Camp

From July 29th through the 31st the camp I had been setting up for young teen girls in the Anthony area finally took place. Although there is probably pages of writing I could devote to explaining the immense effect the camp had on not just the girls, but myself, for the first time; I want to keep this experience to myself. Sometimes talking about something or attempting to write it, allows its to be defined, and in this case the words have slipped away to a much better place. I will say the camp was more than sucessful, and the girls within it made it so. They were talented, beautiful and amazing since day one, and even more so when they themselves realized it.

On my list of goals in life, I have finally reached a major milestone. The wheels are now turning for Finding Esperanza, the longterm self-sustainable program for girls, and the camp was an amazing test pilot to the impact this type of program can have on the population of girls in the area. Everything I have learned I cannot explain in words, from my supervisors, from my students, and from the girls... The experience has been the entire meaning of fulfilling.

And although I may have left with tears in my eyes, my soul was beaming.
