- Personal Biography
Supreetha was born in Southern India and spent her childhood living in Saudi Arabia, Singapore and Australia before her family decided to settle down in Massachusetts in 1998. She is a freshman and is currently pursuing a Biology and HSSP major at Brandeis University. Due to the experience of vastly different cultures as a child she has always known she craved to learn about and live in other countries. Since her freshman year of high school she has discovered her interest in human trafficking, especially in regards to women and children. During the summer of 2008 she traveled to India to independently work with Prajwala, an anti-trafficking organization located in Hyderbad, India; where she truly learned about the story behind these women's lives. Since then she has developed a strong interest in women's health especially the connection between empowerment and other seemingly unrelated areas of a woman's life. She hopes that in Mexico she can uncover the current state of immigrant's women's health, mentally and physically in rural border communities.
